Global Goals Working Group

In 2017, the UN Global Compact Network UK launched a Sustainable Development Goals Working Group, later re-named the Global Goals Working Group, to bring participating UK Network members together to discuss with experts and peers the challenges they are facing in effectively engaging on the Goals and to share good practices and identify concrete actions that companies, both individually and as a group, can take to make progress on the Goals.

The meetings are intended to be highly interactive and provide participants with access to leading experts in this field. The group will hear presentations from different stakeholders including but not limited to, government officials, NGOs and businesses working on advancing the Global Goals.

Previous topics that have been explored include:

  • The business case for the Goals;
  • Defining priorities;
  • SDG investing;
  • Impact assessment;
  • Practical guidance for reporting on the Goals;
  • UK Government's implementation of the SDGs;
  • The impact of COVID-19.

The Working Group convenes quarterly and at present there are a small number of places left on the group. If you would like to find out more and/or register your interest in joining the group, please contact Global Goals Project Manager, Erin Sharpe.

2020 Annual Report

The UN Global Compact Network UK’s Global Goals Working Group brings members together with experts and peers to discuss the challenges in effectively engaging on the SDGs, to share good practice, and to identify concrete actions that companies can take to deliver the Goals.

In 2020, the Global Goals Working Group held four virtual meetings. Each meeting focussed on a different theme, covering:

  • The impact of the COVID-19 crisis on the SDGs;
  • Using the SDGs in post-COVID-19 recovery;
  • Measuring impact on the Goals;
  • Sustainable finance for the SDGs.

This report aims to summarise the key learnings from each of these meetings.
