Design the Future You Choose:
UN Global Compact Network UK SDG T-Shirt Competition
With only 1 in 10 adults in the UK aware of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is critical to empower the next generation of changemakers to take meaningful action and advocate for a sustainable future.
In partnership with ACS Clothing Ltd and Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), the UN Global Compact Network UK has launched the ‘Design the Future You Choose’ SDG T-Shirt Competition to engage students across Scotland to creatively promote awareness of the SDGs through T-shirt designs. Students will explore the 17 SDGs, express their understanding through art, and inspire actions towards achieving these global goals.
Students of all ages are invited to take part.
Competition Process
- SDG Exploration: Research and learn about the 17 SDGs and their targets, as well as their ambition for creating a world we want to live and do business in during school lessons.
- Design Development: Brainstorm and develop digital or hand-drawn T-shirt designs inspired by the SDGs.
- Accompanying Messages: Write short messages or slogans to accompany each T-shirt design, explaining the inspiration behind the design and its connection to specific SDGs.
- Submission: Prepare a 5-minute presentation to showcase your idea and explain how you came up with it. You can deliver the presentation in the format of your choice – for example, you could use a PowerPoint and talk through it or act it out as a play. Be creative! Answer the following questions:
-
- Tell us why the SDGs are important to you?
- How does your t-shirt represent the SDGs.
- Tell us about what it was like to work as a Team.
Timelines
- Competition closes: 14 February 2025
- Award ceremony: 1 April 2025 (hosted at the new Entrepreneurial Hub at Glasgow Caledonian University)
- Winners will have their designs printed, made available for purchase on the UN Global Compact Network UK store, and showcased at the Scottish Parliament.
