SDG Pioneer UK 2022

UN Global Compact Network UK recognises its 2022 UK SDG Pioneer — a young pioneer who is supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and inspiring others to advance the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The UN Global Compact Network UK is proud to present David Orr as the 2022 Global Compact Network UK SDG Pioneer. As the winner of the national round, David went on the compete in the global round. At the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in June, David was named 2022 SDG Pioneer for Climate Mitigation. You can read more about David and the rest of the 2022 Global Pioneers here 

David Orr is Mott MacDonald’s Trade and Investment Lead, focused on developing sustainable trade with emerging markets.  He specialises in managing national-level transformation programmes, including working with the Governments of India and Kenya to develop carbon reduction pathways to help meet their climate commitments under the Paris Agreement. David has also worked on projects around the world to support sustainable social outcomes, ranging from public-private health partnerships in Pakistan to supporting the digitisation of South Sudan’s education management system. Recognising the importance of business to drive sustainability, David has recently been awarded one of the UK’s first Management Consultant Charterships and is using the award to drive sustainability across the industry. Beyond the office, David is an Associate at the University of Cambridge’s Judge Business School and an Executive with Science Resources Africa, which provides access to STEM education in West Africa. He is passionate about the UN Global Compact, participating in its Young SDG Innovator programme and was shortlisted for the SDG Pioneer Award in 2020.
