Modern Slavery

Modern slavery, including forced labour, debt bondage, and the worst forms of child labour, continues to affect millions globally. According to the ILO, IOM, and Walk Free, there are still more than 50 million men, women, and children subjected to forced or compulsory labour, with specific vulnerabilities creating bigger risks for minority groups. Every stakeholder must work together to prevent, reduce, and make a difference in modern slavery. For businesses, working to prevent modern slavery in core strategies enhances customer trust and brand reputation, improves regulatory compliance, increases access to capital and reinforces investor confidence, and improves supply chain resilience.

The UN Global Compact Network UK’s Modern Slavery programmes support companies to comply with national and international laws and regulations on the matter, including the Modern Slavery Act 2015. These programmes aim to create a safe space where companies can share good practices, learn from each other through feedback, and provide practical tools to work and prevent modern slavery.
