About the UN Global Compact Network UK
Helping businesses turn sustainability into competitive advantage
The UN Global Compact helps businesses navigate a changing sustainability landscape, build capability, strengthen resilience, and create long-term value. Through the UN Global Compact Network UK, businesses gain access to practical expertise, peer learning, market and policy insight, and opportunities for collective action. We help organisations stay ahead of emerging expectations, learn from others, turn ambition into action, and demonstrate credible progress.
By connecting UK businesses with the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, we combine global reach with local support — helping participants strengthen their sustainability performance while contributing to a more sustainable and resilient economy.
Who we are
UN Global Compact Network UK is a registered charity and the UK Country Network of the United Nations Global Compact.
The UN Global Compact Network UK is an independent not-for-profit organisation. Our aims are to promote charitable sustainable development, relieve poverty, preserve and protect the environment, and promote ethical standards and conduct within businesses and the private sector in the UK.
Although we are independent, self-governed, and self-managed, we work closely with the United Nations Global Compact and act as a point of contact for UN Global Compact signatories in the UK.

Global reach. Local support.
The United Nations Global Compact is a global platform for business and non-business entities to proactively network and engage in areas of human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. Participation in the UN Global Compact is a widely visible commitment to the implementation, disclosure, and promotion of its ten universal principles.
Local Networks, such as the UK Network, are clusters of UN Global Compact participants who come together to advance the UN Global Compact and its principles within a particular geographic context. The UN Global Compact Network UK achieves its aims by helping organisations engage in the UN Global Compact with respect to implementation of the Ten Principles, and creating opportunities for multi-stakeholder engagement and collective action.
More information about engaging locally can be found on the United Nations Global Compact website.

The UN Global Compact Way
In 2017, the UN Global Compact Office in New York, in collaboration with its Local Networks, created a shared set of values and behaviours to guide the work of every staff member as we strive to achieve our mission.
Based on the three core values of the United Nations — Integrity, Professionalism and Respect for Diversity — an additional nine values and behaviours were agreed upon to serve as the guiding spirit for our work at the UN Global Compact.
By truly embracing and living these values, we will be able to achieve our ambitious goals.
